Obituary for Fay A Uren (Gentiline)

Fay A Uren (Gentiline)
Fay A. Uren, 79, of Florence, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the Golden Living Center, Florence.

She was born February 17, 1935, in Iron Mountain, Mich., daughter of the late Nadzerin and Frances (Koller) Gentiline.

Fay graduated from Kingsford High School. She married Edward (Buddy) Uren on June 11, 1955. Fay and Buddy made their home in Florence, Wis., at the Brule Dam. She was a stay at home mom and loved caring for her family. Fay was known for her baking and cooking, which she shared not only with her family but with anyone she knew who was going through a difficult time or just to brighten someone’s day. She also enjoyed knitting and made hundreds of afghans over the years for family and friends. Most recently she made prayer shawls. Fay was an avid gardener; she also enjoyed reading, playing cards and attending local sporting events. She volunteered at the Golden Living Center in Florence for over twenty years. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Fay was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great-grandchild in August. She was a devout Catholic throughout her life and was a shining example of faith in action. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Florence and the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband Buddy; daughters, Joni K Barnes and Jill A Larson and brother, Gale Gentiline.

Fay is survived by two sons, Jeff (Debbie) Uren, Spread Eagle, Wis. and James (Melissa) Uren, Florence; one sister, Jane Bruno, Ariz.; two sons-in-law, Kevin Larson, Iron Mountain, and Kelly Barnes, Wausau, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Keira) Larson, Brittany (Mike) Schmidt, Devin, Bryan and Dylan Barnes, Kaitlyn (James Stewart) Uren, Megan (Dan Lyman) Uren, Brier Winney and Paige Uren; a special Aunt, Gertrude Koller; faithful friend, Betty Steber and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, June 20, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.

You may light a candle in remembrance of Fay, or leave a condolence for her family online at www.JacobsFuneralHomes.com
