Obituary for Lauretta R. Andrews (Stockton)

Lauretta R. Andrews (Stockton)
Lauretta R. Andrews, of Iron Mountain, went to be with Our Lord on September 5, 2014, at home with loving family at her side.

She was born January 18, 1930, in Chicago, Ill. at Grant Hospital daughter of the late Richard and Laura (Gilbank) Stockton.

Lauretta graduated from Lakeview High School, Class of 1948. During her teenage years she babysat, worked at Andes Candies making and selling their candy, and Montgomery Wards in the time scheduling department.

She stayed in the Chicago area until, through a mutual friend met a handsome service man, George Andrews, with whom she fell in love. Lauretta moved to Iron Mountain and they were married on September 5, 1953. George preceded her in death in 1990.

When she moved to Iron Mountain, she worked at Aluminum Specialty, where they were making bombs during the Korean war. Her job there was to make sure that there was no excess oil in the parts.

Lauretta was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. Over the years she bowled, hunted, loved to fish, made wedding cakes and Christmas ornaments, crocheted, and played cards.

Lauretta was a woman of faith and belonged to The First Evangelical Lutheran Church and worked on the Christian Action Committee. Cooking and working during funerals was one of the many things she was involved in over the years.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit No. 50, Iron Mountain.

Lauretta is survived by her daughter, Sandy Michaud; grandchildren, Laurie and Antonio Herrera and Ericka Michaud (Paul Roberts); great granddaughter, Kylie Roberts; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Donald Roberge; sister-in-law, Christine Stockton and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very good friends, Betty and Wally Beaudoin and Nancy Stratton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, George Michaud; her great grandson, Chilito Rivas; sister and brother-in-law, June and RJ Eggers and their daughter Twyla Brasko; brother, Richard Stockton Jr. and his son Richard III; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella and Jim Novara and their son Ronald; Bill and Alice Andrews, Fred and Margaret Andrews and Lorraine and Delore Duval.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at The First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Iron Mountain. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. at the church. The American Legion Auxiliary will offer services at the church. Pastor James Lindgren will officiate. Burial will be Thursday, September 11, 2014, 11:00 a.m., Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.

Fellowship and a meal will be served at the American Legion Post No.50 following the service.

Paul bearers will be: Antonio Herrera, Paul Roberts, Randy Duval, Randy Grailer, Sr., Ryan Grailer and Cliff Pera. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Roberge and Wally Beaudoin.

A memorial will be established in Lauretta’s memory.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Lauretta’s Legacy of Life.
