Rose “Rosie” M. Vondale, 87, of Iron Mountain, was welcomed as God opened the doors to heaven on October 7, 2014.

She was born November 24, 1926, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Kazianka) Oizle.

Rose lovingly married Earl Vondale and he preceded her in death in 1997. She relished time spent with friends and was always one to make sure everyone had a good time. Rose enjoyed playing cards and all sports, especially the Tigers. In her younger years she was an avid skier and softball player. In her later years Rose was an exceptional bowler and always on a League at Chickie’s Lanes. Many may remember her as the lady who made sure they got across the street safely as the schools crossing guard and was someone you could talk to and confide in. This job gave her the opportunity to be home and always have dinner ready for her family at the end of the day. She never missed a sporting event and was always there to cheer on her Mountaineers. Rose was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain and the Daughters of Isabella.

A special thanks to the staff at Freeman’s Nursing Home for caring for her and to the many friends who supported her throughout her life. Especially to those in most recent years she deeply cared about and faithfully met at McDonalds to share stories with at night.

She is survived by her five children, Judy (Robert)Sanders, Earl Michael (Lorna) Vondale, Suellen Aronson, Mary (Jim) Schmitt, Shelly (Art) Vondale and David Aronson, who graciously gave much of his time looking out for her while Rose lived in Iron Mountain; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Earl and her parents Rose was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Oizle and John Oizle; six sisters, Molly Carigan, Mary Constantini, Kate Menghini, Gertrude Oizle, Louise Oizle and Helen Visintainer.

Services for Rose will be held in San Manuel, Ariz. on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Burial will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Southern Arizona Veteran's Cemetery, Sierra Vista, Ariz.
