Obituary for Michael F. Flannery

Michael F. Flannery, 58, of Florence, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015, at Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee surrounded by his family and children.

He was born March 31, 1957, in Anchorage, Alaska, son of the late Franklin and Ruby (Charlevoix) Flannery.

Mike came from a military family and lived in many places, including, Anchorage, Turkey, Texas, Ohio, where he enjoyed farming, Michigan and made his home in Florence in 1977. He married Lynn Mattson on June 24, 1977, at the First Presbyterian Church, Florence. Mike worked for Grede Foundry from 1976 until present as a Production Scheduler in the Iron Mountain office.

He enjoyed the outdoors cutting firewood and building. Mike built his own home and later built a log splitter and lawn mower.. He was a very proud, dedicated, loving husband, father and pop pop who loved his family deeply. Mike was a very industrious man who did everything 100 percent. To know Mike was to love Mike; he was always kind and understanding to everyone he met. Although, he is at peace with the Lord, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Lynn; two sons, Michael (Beth) Flannery, Woodstock, Ill. and Nate (Chrissy) Flannery, Round Lake, Ill.; two brothers, Mark (Wanda) Flannery, Quantico, Va. and Shawn (Sue) Flannery, Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren, Madelyn, Everett, Cole, Julia and Maddux; special friends, Lee Mattson and John Bowman, both of Florence and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Florence. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate.

The family has chosen the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence to honor Michael’s Legacy of Life.
