Obituary for John R. "Bob" Otterbein

John R. "Bob"  Otterbein
John “Bob” R. Otterbein “the Coyote”, 73, of Crystal Falls, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015, at his home.

He was born September 15, 1941, in Waukesha, Wis. son of the late Arthur and Jessie (McClure) Otterbein.

Bob grew up in Crystal Falls and graduated from Forest Park High School, Class of 1960. He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee, from 1961, until his honorable discharge in 1967. Bob worked many jobs over the years. He worked in the woods as a logger for Robert Miller Cedar Mills, drove truck for Oss Trucking and Ken Santi, and later as an auto mechanic with Jimmer Reinke.

He loved music, playing the guitar daily; he attended many local music events. Bob played guitar for the Lancers, The Sometimes Country Band, Harley and the Country Boys, Country Jamboree, Shotgun Rider Band and other bands throughout the years. Bob was well known for his red country western shirts, his worn moccasins, and his Fender Jazz Master Guitar. His musical talent earned him the nickname “Coyote”. Bob had his pilot’s license and flew his own plane. He was always willing to help others whenever he could. Bob enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, deer hunting and caring for his dogs.

Bob is survived by longtime friend, Mary Shelby, Caspian, Mich., close friends, Harley Davis, Rodger Grandahl, Jay Davis, Jake Jacobs, Ron Takala, Jimmer Reinke, Jerry Bortolini, Buzz Baily, Jim Conden, Jim Clement, Bruno Scarite, Pat Web and numerous other friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 4, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. The Crystal Falls American Legion Louis Bowman Post No. 87 will accord Military Honors, Friday, 6:15 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, 6:30 at the funeral home. Rev. Steve Sudduth will officiate.

The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls to honor John’s Legacy of Life.
