Alma A. VanKampen, 100, of Crystal Falls, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015, at Northstar Health Services, Iron River, Mich.

She was born August 26, 1915, in Phelps, Wis., daughter of the late Jacob and Lydia Ranta.

Alma grew up in Paynesville, Ohio and graduated from high school in 1932. She married Samuel Matson, he preceded her in death. Alma later married Clarence “Van” VanKampen and they enjoyed many great years together, until his passing in 1991. The couple resided in the Chicago area where she worked as an accounting manager. Alma moved to Crystal Falls, in 1991.

She enjoyed reading and especially visiting with her many friends.

Alma is survived by one son, William Matson, Crystal Falls; one grandson, Richard, Crystal Falls; one nephew, Joseph Sabo, Crystal Falls and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, husband Sam & husband Clarence she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

In accordance with Alma’s wishes private family services were held.

The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls to honor Alma’s Legacy of Life.
