Condolences

Condolence From: LeRoy and Bev Yoki
Condolence: Our condolences to Rudy's family. Rudy was the first person to introduce me to the sport of skiing. He encouraged me to ski jump and was patient with me learning. I have enjoyed skiing slalom, thanks to my husband, for the last 50 years and ski patrolling for 34 years. Between Rudy and my husband they have instilled a desire in me and now our family and grandchildren to enjoy winter and skiing. We will miss him but have many fond memories. The last time we visited we discussed the Finn Fest Cruise coming up as we all went on the one to Alaska in 2009. Sending our love and condolences.

Condolence: I am saddened to here about the passing of Rudy. I myself was never a great ski jumper like he was and I looked up to him as a ski jumping hero. Rudy always had time to talk to me and even though I wasn't a jumper like him he made me feel special. When I became president of the Eau Claire ski club Rudy came here and judged our meets many times. We got to know each other better at those times. He was a great person and you just couldn't help but like him. God Bless you Rudy, I'm glad that I knew you.

Personally I will cherish the memories of our moments together both in Finland and in US. Condolence: Without Rudy I would have never come to the U.S and never met the wonderful people there. He was always like a grandfather to me behind the ocean. It was always a joy when he and his crew came to Lahti and we could spend time with them. I will miss his late night phone calls to us: "Is it Emma from Lahti, Finland". He was a part of my life from the day i was born 20 years ago. I bet he is doing some awesome 20 point jumps somewhere right now. Going to miss you Rudy. My deepest condolences to the Maki family!

Condolence: RIP Rudy !! . Rudy befriended me when I was a shiny faced junior jumper out of Munising, encouraging my attempts to handle Suicide (my first big hill) as I entered the big leagues of the Senior circuit. . ran into Rudy often later when traveling on my own out of Mich Tech at Ish and Iron Mtn , and as I aged to the point of being the "old guy" on the hill, Rudy would always go out of his way to greet and chat with me. If ever I wanted to emulate a good, caring 'n no-nonsense man, Rudy was the perfect model!! . . Again, RIP Rudy, and condolences to his many friends and family.

Condolence: To Rudy's family - You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of Rudy. I had the honor of meeting him thru my job at the U. S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame and over the years always enjoyed seeing him as he walked thru the door. Just this past fall at our induction I had a good conversation with him and said how good he looked and how happy he was. He was one gem of a guy and he will be missed. My thoughts are with your family at this time.
