Obituary for Mildred E. "Mil" Miller (Pohlman)

BREITUNG TWP. – Mich. - Mildred (Mil) Miller, 91, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Breitung Township, peacefully entered eternal life on January 26, 2016, at Prattville Baptist Hospital, Prattville, Ala.

She was born January 2, 1925, in Niles, Mich., daughter of the late Louis and Louise (Williams) Pohlman.

During WWII, Mil was a cadet nurse, and graduated from Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. Following her graduation she married Les Miller; he preceded her in death in 1967. Mil worked as a nurse for over 34 years, the last 25 years, at a VA Hospital in Marion and Indianapolis Ind. Following retirement at age 65, Mil joined the Peace Corps and served in Paraguay, for almost two years.

Mil loved nature and wildlife.

In addition to her parents and husband, Les, she was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Pohlman in 1998; one sister, Dorothy Bonsall in 1999, and her son, Gregg Miller in 2002.

She is survived by two children, Lucinda Wimmer, Tucson, Ariz. and Brad Miller, Mooresville, N.C.; one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Mil also had many nieces, nephews & their families and friends who will miss her very much.

Mil was laid to rest on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Mil’s Legacy of Life.
