Obituary for
Patricia A. "Zaupa" Nichols
ALPHA – Patricia A. (Zaupa) Nichols, 63, of Alpha, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, at her home.
She was born March 10, 1953, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Aldo and Mercedes (Rochon) Zaupa.
Patty grew up and attended school in Crystal Falls. She worked at the Village Inn in Alpha in the early nineties. Patty moved to Jackson, Mich. for one year in the mid-nineties to work at the American Legion. Patty returned home after her one year stay in Jackson and began working at Joe’s Place in Crystal Falls; she continued on when Joe’s Place changed hands and became the Raven’s Nest.
She enjoyed camping, cooking, loved her dogs, Jiggs, Jack and Nellie and her cats, Kit-Kat and Pumpkin 2.
Patty is survived by one daughter, Nicole “Nicki” DeGrave of Florence; one brother, James (Debbie) Zaupa of Crystal Falls; four sisters, Alice (Matt) Borowiec of Naperville, Ill., Sandy (Wally) Peifer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Marie (Cully) Paulsen of Crystal Fallls and Kathy Zaupa of Jackson, Mich.; one son-in-law, Steve Finendale of Kingsford; her mother-in-law, Betty DeGrave of Florence; two grandchildren, Travis (Dayna) Finendale and Ethan Haberkorn; one great-grandchild, on the way, Tristan Michael Finendale; her companion, Dave Ponchaud; special friend, Sherry Process and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy DeGrave Finendale; one brother, William Ford Roberts and Mark DeGrave, father of her two children, Nicole and the late Tammy Finendale.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 29, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls.
The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls to honor Patty’s Legacy of Life.
