Obituary for
Helena Eder (Pieta)
SPREAD EAGLE, Wis. – Helena Eder, 84, of Spread Eagle, entered into Eternal Life, Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.
She was born January 28, 1932, in Radlow, Poland, daughter of the late Jozef and Maria (Bratko) Pieta.
Helena grew up in Poland and graduated high school there. She married Stanislaw Barys in December of 1950 in Poland; he preceded her in death in 1982. Helena enjoyed Poland and all the outdoors had to offer. Helena was dedicated to raising her family. She moved to Armstrong Creek, Wis. in 1984 and resided on Lake Hilbert. Helena married George Eder in 1985; he preceded her in death in 1988. She moved to Florence in 1992, and in 2008, she moved to Spread Eagle.
She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain and was proud of the special relationship she had with Pope John Paul II who was a family friend. Helena loved the garden, with flowers and birds. She loved reading and crossword puzzles and watching Radio Maria and her prayer time.
Helena is survived by two sons, Mieczyslaw (Zofia) Barys and Leszek (Elzbieta) Barys, both of Poland; two daughters, Maria Barys of Oconto Falls, Wis. and Ania (Don “Doc”) Mihalski of Spread Eagle; one brother, Jozef (Henryka) Pieta of Poland; two sisters, Stanislawa Stefanczyk and Irena (Janusz) Frackowiak both of Poland; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Stanislaw and George, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, James Niec and one sister, Janina Walczak.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Janusz Romanek will officiate. Burial will be in St. Casimir Cemetery in Krakow, Wis.
