Obituary for
Robert J. Anderson
Crystal Falls-Robert James “Bob” Anderson, 60, passed away at his home on August 17, 2016.
He was born September 17, 1955, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Oliver and Marlene (Johnson) Anderson. Bob was raised in Mastodon Township on his parents’ dairy/beef farm where he developed a strong work ethic and spirit of teamwork. He attended the local schools and graduated from Forest Park High School in 1974.
After graduation, Bob was employed by Lato Construction and later joined Laborers’ Local 1329. He was an outstanding laborer and worked on various construction projects throughout the Upper Peninsula. If needed, in addition to his busy schedule, he continued to help on the family farm.
Bob enjoyed listening to telephone time, antiquing, and searching for bargains at garage sales. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend or stranger and treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. “Bobcat”, as he was affectionately called, took delight in pranking family and friends with his unique Scandinavian-Yooper sense of humor. He was well-liked and respected by many and will be sadly missed.
Bob is survived by his children: Christy (Nathan) Lung, Sturgis, MI; Shawn Anderson, Iron Mountain, MI; Jesse Anderson, Chicago, IL; Angie Kimble, Iron River, MI; sisters, Kathy (Ray) Guzowski, Fenton, MI; Marla (Mark) Rupp, New Brighton, MN; one brother, John (Lorna) Anderson, Crystal Falls, MI; aunts, Rose (Carl) Steele, Iron Mountain, MI; Gunhild Steinbrecher, Niagara, WI; Linda Scheuring, Gilbert, MN; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
With respect to Bob’s wishes, a private family tribute will take place at a later date.
