Obituary for Timothy L. "Tim" York

Florence-Timothy L. “Tim” York, age 69, of Florence, Wisc., passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, following a 2 1/2 year courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 23, 1947 in Park Falls, Wisc., to the late Leonard and Anita (McKay) York. Tim grew up in Green Bay, Wisc. and graduated from Premontre High School in Green Bay. After graduation he joined the United States Army. Tim was united in marriage to Sherry Carr on September 21, 1991 in Florence.

Tim worked as a meat cutter for Tim’s IGA in Florence and later worked for Super 1 Foods until his retirement.

His hobbies included woodworking and hunting. Tim enjoyed meat cutting and was a hard worker. He had a passion for eagles as well as an extensive collection. Tim cherished his time spent with his wife, his five children, his 12 grandchildren and was so proud and blessed to have met and loved his great-grandson and his recent newborn twin granddaughters.

Tim is survived by his loving wife of 25 years to the day, Sherry; five children, Jennifer York, Green Bay, Wisc., Barbara (Jay) Menne, Green Bay, Wisc., Christy Boettcher, Florence, Wisc., Lee (Madison) Carr, Iron Mountain, Mich. and Teresa (Pete Thelander) Carr, Kingsford, Mich.; one brother, Joseph (Bonnie) York, Elk Mound, Wisc.; one sister, Faith (Dan) Kornowski, Green Bay, Wisc.; twelve grandchildren, Lucas, Jacey, Rylee, Izabella, Brittany, Danny, Braden, Nevaeh Marie, Cecilee Elizabeth, Andrew, Hunter and Peter; three great-grandchildren, Karson, Scarlett and Sophia and by his best companion, Buddy.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence. VFW Post #3635 of Florence will accord Military Honors Tuesday, 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Commonwealth Cemetery, Commonwealth, Wisc.
