Iron Mountain-Lola Ione Jacobs,87, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at ManorCare Health Services, Kingsford, Mich., following a period of declining health due to cancer.

Lola was born on July 20, 1929 in Kingsford, Mich., daughter of the late Walter and Eleanor Ormiston. She graduated from Kingsford High School, Class of 1947. Lola married Robert S. Jacobs on May 14, 1949.

Lola worked by his side in several businesses in the Iron Mountain area including: Park Ridge Mobile Home Park, Jacobs Motors (with Mike and Rosa Jacobs), Jacobs Restaurant and Jacobs Service Station. They wintered in Hawaii and Florida beginning in 1977. After Bob’s death, in 1993, Lola resided in Florida, spending her summers in Iron Mountain until 2014 when she moved to Lake Villa, Illinois to be close to family. As her health declined she came home to Iron Mountain.

Lola is survived by one son, Daniel (Geri) Jacobs of Kalispell, Mont.; two daughters, Evelyn (Tom) Carlson of Antioch, Ill. and Mary Beth (Michael Pyter) of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; four granddaughters; five step grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, in addition to numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends across the country.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Trisagion services will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Mark Hagan will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
