Arthur C. Tappy
Iron Mountain-Arthur C. Tappy, 84, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich.

He was born June 17, 1932 in Spalding, Mich., son of the late Joseph and Erna (Henring) Tappy. Art grew up in Niagara and attended school there. He served in the United States Navy from 1953 until he was honorably discharged in 1956. In his younger years and after the service Art worked on the family farm. He married Lola Betters on June 22, 1957 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. Art worked as a papermaker for the Niagara Paper Mill for 44 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Art owned and operated a Christmas tree farm in Niagara which he enjoyed running for many years. He was an avid deer hunter, four-wheeler, Green Bay Packer fan, gardener, handyman, always tinkering around the house, and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Art is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lola; three sons, Paul (Tina) Tappy, Wisconsin Rapids, Ken (Lori) Tappy, Iron Mountain and Bob Tappy, Niagara; four grandchildren, Ryan, Kendra (Matt), Deanna (Matt) and Monte; and seven great grandchildren, Spencer, Evelyn, Brooke, Sarah, Hannah, Taylor and Alayna.

In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, Jim, Lawrence and George; and two sisters, Lucille and Lillian.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post #136 of Niagara will accord military honors at 11:45 am at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
