Obituary for Judith M. Brezeale (Anderson)

Judith M. Brezeale (Anderson)
Florence-Judith M. Brezeale, 76, longtime resident of Hines, Minn., currently of Florence, Wis., passed away Friday, February 03, 2017 at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich.

She was born August 12, 1940 in Red Wing, Minn., daughter of the late Leslie and Mildred (Westberg) Anderson, Sr. Judie graduated from Kenyon High School in Kenyon, Minn., Class of 1958.

Judie was a homemaker for many years in addition to working at Czech’s Carpet County and the Minnesota DNR in Blackduck, Minn. She lived in Florence most recently and spent the later years of her life traveling to live with family and children, particularly during winter when she would fly south to Mesa, Ariz. to live with her daughter, Dawn and Dawn’s husband, James.

Judie was active and had several hobbies. She was an excellent bowler for many years, making a yearly trek to the state tournament with her team. Her first year at state tournament, Judie fell when she rolled her first ball, which resulted in a strike. She went on to bowl seven strikes in a row that game.

Judie was an avid golfer as well. She spent many Wednesdays on the course in Blackduck and was quite good. Later, during winters with Dawn in Arizona, she once again picked up the game she enjoyed so much and they spent many hours on the links together.

Fishing and hunting were also some of Judie’s favorite activities. She loved being in the boat with her son Curt, and would fish the entire day away. She and Curt once fished the Gull Lake Fishing Tournament, for which she was very proud.

In the cold autumn days of deer season, Judie could be found on the family hunting property, Stillmakers. She would scramble up to her stand in the very top of a spruce tree, haul her rifle up by rope, settle in, and wait for a good one to come along. You could see her orange cap poking out of the top of the tree from several other stands.

Judie was a marvelous cook, but many people would agree her specialty was baking. Her children, grandchildren, and lately great-grandchildren learned from her and she always included them if they wanted to “help,” even though it may have led to a bigger mess. She loved to share the outcomes of her baking, and I’m quite certain the guys at the Ford garage and the members of the Sheriff’s Department in Florence will sorely miss her famous caramel apple pie.

Judie made many friends and was well loved in Arizona. She so enjoyed the time she spent with Dawn and her family and loved getting away from the cold of the northern winter. She particularly loved going to Christopher Creek, where Dawn has a camper. Judie spent many evenings around a campfire visiting with friends and enjoying the outdoors on the mountain. She loved taking part in the annual 4th of July parade and getting to be a regular part of the Christopher Creek Community.

Judie is survived by one son, Curtis (Pegge) Jensen, Florence; two daughters, Dawn (James Almendinger) Jensen, Mesa, Ariz. and Heidi (James Allred) Jensen, Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Mary (David) Jensen, Pennington, Minn. and Marcia (Mike) Penny, River Falls, Wis.; two grandchildren, Chelsea and Julianne; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Carter and Vienna; several nieces and nephews, and also by her three “Golden Girls” Joan Churchill, Joan Novak and Judy Gehloff.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Leslie Anderson Jr. and one grandson, Tyrel Kuiawinski.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Florence. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate.

You may light a candle in remembrance of Judith or leave a condolence for her family online at www.JacobsFuneralHomes.com.

The family has chosen the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence, to honor Judith’s legacy of life.
