Obituary for Betty Marie Abbey (Cole)

Betty Marie Abbey, 81, of Crystal Falls, Mich. passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at Aspirus Hospital, Iron River, Mich.

She was born June 10, 1935 in Toledo, Ohio, daughter of the late Valentine and Mabel (Rawson) Cole.

Betty graduated Browser High School, Toledo, Ohio in 1953. She married John Abbey February 6, 1957 in Toledo and remarried each other February 16, 1962. They moved to Crystal Falls in 2003 from Hillsdale, Mich. Betty is a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. She and her husband were competition roller skaters. Betty enjoyed music, playing the organ and piano; knitting and crocheting; cooking and baking and had an extensive collection of cookbooks; camping and travelling and she was known for her great smile.

Betty is survived by her husband John; three daughters Debora (Robert) Stanton, Florence, Wis., Susan (Jeff Frantom) Holt, Coldwater, Mich., Jackie (Dennis) Little, Coldwater, Mich.; three sisters Margaret Langdon, Ellen Lingaferter and Darlene Cole all of Ohio; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bud Cole.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5:00pm-7:00pm and Friday, March 24, 2017 from 9:30am – 10:30am at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Prayers will be recited at 10:30am on Friday, March 24, 2017. Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:00am at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Fr. Dan Malone will officiate. Burial will be in the Spring at Hematite Cemetery.
