Obituary for Lloyd M. "Sparky" Pryor

Kingsford-After a rich and purposeful life, Lloyd M. Pryor, affectionately known as “Sparky”, passed away May 4, 2017, at the Mayo Clinic located in Rochester, Minnesota.

He was born the youngest child to Richard Harry Pryor and Elsie (Anderson) Pryor on May 6th 1928, in Kingsford, Michigan. Lloyd’s spirited youth was spent in the Ford Addition of Kingsford and he was a proud second generational owner of one of the original Ford homes.

He was a 1946 graduate of Kingsford High School. During high school Lloyd met the love of his life, Carol Ann Olsen. They were married in October 1950 and together raised three sons. Lloyd was employed by Wisconsin Electric/WE Energies for forty four years, retiring as a Distribution Supervisor. He was a thirty three year member of the Michigan National Guard, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. For seventy seven years he was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church and Redemption Hill Church serving in several leadership roles, including the last thirty years as elder.

Lloyd’s most powerful legacy is his indelible impact on his family. He led a humble life of faith and exemplary character that will serve as a model to all who knew him. He enjoyed people and treated everyone with genuine respect. Lloyd had a natural generosity of spirit that created warmth and fondness wherever he went. He found enjoyment in a wonderful meal with friends and above all, family gatherings.

He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty six years, Carol, his sons, Jon and his wife Paula, Steven and his wife Lori, Dr. Todd and his wife Marie. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, who loved their Papa Spark, Emily Lundberg and her husband Greg, Jeremy Pryor and his wife Karyn, Courtney LeMire and her husband R. Joseph, Brandon Pryor, Kyle Pryor and his wife Ashley, Alexis Locke and her husband Joshua, Grant Pryor, Sarah Greidanus and her husband Mark, Michael Pryor and his wife Rachel, and one great grandson Soren Lloyd LeMire.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings Olive Hurley, Edith Moore, and Herbert Pryor.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain, and from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm on Thursday May 11th preceding the funeral service at 1:00 pm at Redemption Hill Church in Kingsford, Pastor Ronald Wolfe will officiate.

Memorial donations can be made to Redemption Hill Mission Projects.
