Obituary for Dolores K. "Lorry" Morstad (Peterson)

Dolores K. "Lorry" Morstad (Peterson)
Niagara-Dolores “Lorry” K. Morstad, 87, of Niagara, Wis., passed into eternal life on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara.

She was born June 25, 1929, in Crystal Falls, Mich., daughter of the late Hadar and Agnes (RonBack) Peterson. After graduating from high school, Lorry worked at the Iron County Courthouse and later at Wilding Picture Productions in Chicago, Ill. Lorry was married to Robert E. Morstad for 63 years, and they were blessed with seven children.

Throughout her life, Lorry was actively involved in the church and the community. She participated in her church by serving on the Board, Eve Circle, and teaching Sunday school. In 1971, Lorry became the second woman elected to the Niagara School Board.

She was a devoted wife to Robert, and they shared a love of music, reading, and dancing. During their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling through Canada, Alaska, with annual trips to Florida. A highlight trip for Lorry was to visit relatives in Sweden.

Lorry’s legacy was her commitment to faith, family, and her sense of humor. She was a compassionate woman who was a great listener to her many friends and relatives. Watching her children and grandchildren in their various activities over many years brought her immeasurable joy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert and her children; Dean (Betty) Morstad, Lynn (Mike) Crosby, Dawn (Bob) Simkovski, Robin (Dan) Hagar, Jamie (Scott) Pratt, Boyd (Vicki) Morstad and Diane (Jay) Keeley; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and two brothers, Donald (Bev) Peterson and Harry Peterson.

In addition to her parents, Lorry was preceded in death by two sisters, Nathalie and Elaine (Edward) O’Million; one brother, Robert (Patricia) Peterson and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Peterson.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home-Niagara Chapel, Niagara, Wis. Funeral services will be Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. James Lindgren will officiate. Burial will take place in Niagara Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude and deep appreciation to the staff at Maryhill Manor for the wonderful care and devotion they extended to Lorry over the past several years.

You may light a candle in remembrance of Dolores or leave a condolence for her family online at www.JacobsFuneralHomes.com.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel, to honor Dolores’ legacy of life.
