Obituary for Louise C. Lantagne (Barr)

Louise C. Lantagne, 82, of Florence, Wis., passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich.

She was born on March 28, 1935, in Bark River, Mich., daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Novak) Barr. Louise married Donald Lantagne on July 9, 1955, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2010.

She grew up in Champion, Mich., and at a young age moved to Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1952. Louise worked at the First National Bank of Iron Mountain for 5 years and later at the First National Bank of Niagara for 18 years before retiring. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. Louise volunteered for the St. Vincent De Paul Society and the Dickinson County Healthcare System.

She enjoyed the many smear games she played with her husband as well as sewing hundreds of jumpers for children less fortunate. Louise also enjoyed knitting mittens and afghans, reading, and listening to country music, attending both Hodag and Porterfield music festivals. She had many fond memories of times spent at Rivers Bend Campground and Keyes Lake.

Louise is survived by one son, Glenn (Michele) Lantagne, Niagara, Wis.; four daughters, Sheila (Chuck) Henrichs, Florence, Lisa McMahon, Niagara, Teresa (Jeff) DePas, Niagara and Brenda (Bart) Wilson, Columbus, GA; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Duane Tirschel, Iron Mountain; one daughter-in-law, Cathy Lantagne; numerous nieces and nephews; and by her beloved cat, Punkin.

In addition to her parents and husband Donald, Louise was preceded in death by two sons, Mark and Dohn Lantagne; one brother, Leon Barr; three sisters, Lottie Kerney, Lorraine Tirschel and Linda Moore; and three grandchildren, Jessica Demo, Austin and Eastin DePas.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 4, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, 11:00 a.m., at the church. Rev. Matt Settle will officiate.
