Obituary for Robert "Shawn" Consla

Crystal Falls-Robert “Shawn” Consla, 53, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Aspirus, Iron River, Mich.

He was born November 3, 1964, in Van Nuys, California, son of the late Robert J. and Alice (Kiser) Consla. Shawn grew up and graduated from high school in the Portland, Oregon area. Following high school worked on a salmon boat, worked for a restaurant in Gresham, Oregon from 1984 until 1993, and also worked at an office supply store. In 1993 he received his CDL license and began driving school bus. Shawn moved to the Grand Rapids area in 1994.

On November 16, 1996, in Wyoming, Mich., Shawn was united in marriage to Jean Rushton. They moved to Crystal Falls in 2010. He worked as a CNA for 3 years before retiring due to health issues. Shawn was a boy scout in his younger years and belonged to both the CB Radio Club and the Crystal Falls Masonic Lodge. His hobbies included photo shooting, digital photography, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Jean Consla; step-son, Roger Denslow, Crystal Falls; one sister, Dorothy Beamer, Phoenix, Ariz.; four nephews, Chris, Jay, Matthew and Peter; one niece, Jessica; one sister-in-law, Karyn Consla, Damascus, Oregon.

In addition to his parents, Shawn was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen 2014 and Richard Allen 2017.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
