Crystal Falls-Gertrude Florence Kurtz, 93, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich.

Gertrude was born August 21, 1924, in Stambaugh, Mich., to Clarence and Florence Rew. Growing up, they resided in Pentoga and she attended Stambaugh Schools. On December 22, 1940, she married Louis Kurtz and relocated to the Buck Lake District, where they farmed and raised five beloved children. She loved her life on the farm and enjoyed nothing more than watching the livestock roam the pasture while she sipped on a cup of coffee. She was an active member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Iron River, Michigan, and as such, had a firm belief that she will see her loved ones again on a paradise Earth, thanks to the resurrection hope found in the Bible (Acts 24:15).

Gertrude is survived by her sons, James (Carol) Kurtz, Louis (Janette) Kurtz Jr., Donald (Mary) Kurtz Sr. and Theodore (Cheryl) Kurtz; along with 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Clarence Raymond Rew; her husband, Louis Kurtz Sr.; a daughter, Carol Ann Dombrowski; a granddaughter, Jodi Lynn Ayers; and three great-grandsons, Dustin Bossenberger and Ian David & Will Alexander Baumann.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 175 Bates-Amasa Road, Iron River, Michigan.
