Obituary for Donald Joseph Stacho

Donald Joseph Stacho
Iron Mountain - Donald Joseph Stacho, 68, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Friday, February 2, 2018, surrounded by love, at his home.

Don was born October 9, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. He is the son of the late Donald and Pauline (Piendak) Stacho. Don grew up and graduated from high school in Chicago. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Army as a military policeman, stationed in Germany and Amsterdam. After a complete and honorable discharge, Don opened an art/antique gallery called ‘Arts & Antiques’ in Carbondale, Illinois for a few years. He also worked as a private investigator in the Chicago area.

In 1978 Don moved to Aurora/Homestead. He continued to buy and sell art and antiques once in Wisconsin and also continued working as a private investigator.

His hobbies included fishing (especially with his son, Paul), gardening, cooking, and collecting art and antiques.

Don also loved spending time with his children, Paul and Frieda. They were his greatest joy and being their father provided him much love and happiness. He is eternally grateful for the time he was blessed to have with them.

He is survived by one son, Paul (Cassandra Willmes) Stacho, Redondo Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Frieda Stacho, Mendocino, Calif.; three grandchildren, Bodhi Stacho, Annabelle Stacho and Beau Carley. He also leaves two brothers, James Stacho, La Farge, Wis.; Jack Stacho, Peshtigo, Wis.

Other survivors include special friends: Stuart Greenberg, Elk, Calif.; Sally Budny, Iron Mountain, Mich.; Jamie Murray, Salt Lake City, Ut.; and Patience McCarthy, Marquette, Mich.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and the mother of his children, Barbara Olsen.

A graveside service with military honors will take place Monday, May 21, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at the Aurora Cemetery, Florence. Fr. Raymond Valerio will officiate.

A memorial will be established in his memory.
