Obituary for James M. "Jim" Bjorkman

Iron Mountain-James M. Bjorkman, 85, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Friday, March 02, 2018, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara, Wis.

He was born July 14, 1932, in Norway, Mich., son of the late Oscar and Selma (Johnson) Bjorkman. Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Carol DeClark on August 25, 1962, in Niagara, Wis. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2012.

Jim owned and operated Niagara Custom Floors for over 50 years and in 1998 he performed woodworking as a hobby out of his home in Niagara. He was a talented wood worker and made many things for his family, friends, as well as many others. Jim as a member of the VFW Post #2063, Crivitz, Wis., and the American Legion Cretton Tutas Post #136, Niagara, Wis. He enjoyed many hobbies including camping, traveling with his wife, musical instruments, playing the harmonica, and the many years that he performed with the Singing Strings Group. Most of all he loved his family dearly, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and he had a great love for the Bible and the Lord. Jim has a hug for everyone and he made a friend with everyone he met.

He is survived by one daughter, Pamela (Michael) Rice, Florence, Wis.; three sons, Daniel (Pamela) Bjorkman, Norway, Mich., Wayne Bjorkman, Niagara, Wis., and Paul Bjorkman, Niagara, Wis.; one brother, Richard (Ange) Bjorkman, Niagara, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Rita Bjorkman, Marinette, Wis, Eileen Bjorkman, CA.; eight grandchildren, Danielle, Jeremy, Amanda, Wayne Jr., Ryan, Allie, Michaela and Zachary; seven great-grandchildren, Giovanna, Dominic, twins Carter and Cierra, Oliver, Ian and Finley; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Carol, Jim was preceded in death by five brothers, his twin John, Gordon, Irving, Marvin and Lloyd Bjorkman; and by two sisters, Alice Olson and Mildred Fleck.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. The American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post #136, Niagara and the Uren-Cooper-Johnson Post #50 of Iron Mountain, will accord military honors Wednesday, 3:45 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Norway Township Cemetery in the spring.
