Lewis L. Leslie, 66, of Quinnesec, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at his home.

He was born March 28, 1949, in Crystal Falls, Mich. son of the late Leslie and Gertrude (Richer) Leslie.

Lewie grew up in Norway and graduated from Norway High School, Class of 1968. He married Mary Gill on January 31, 1970, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Quinnesec, where he played Christ in the “Passion Play”. Lewie worked for Peninsula Beverage Company, Wittock Supply Company, Carlson and Goulette Plumbing and Heating and later was self-employed as a master plumber. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Quinnesec, until its closing. Lewie was a member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain and volunteered at Holy Spirit Catholic School in Norway.

He coached soccer for 20 years, was a leader in the Cub Scouts, enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, in his younger years, attending the stock car races and spending time with the pit crew, wine making, hunting, four wheeling, rafting, camping, dancing with his wife, which would catch the attention of those in the room, traveling on many adventures, including many trips to Europe, along with his wife and their good friend, Fr. Dan Zaloga. Lewie never missed any of his grandchildren’s activities, always carrying his camcorder; he was referred to as the “Quinnesec News”. His life revolved around kids of all ages, they could always be found playing in the yard, Lewie being the biggest kid of all. Lewie loved to eat, he was known as “the seagull”. He loved to work, enjoyed spending time with his friends and especially going to camp.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary; one son, Landen (Jennifer) Leslie, Eagle River, Wis.; four daughters, Melissa Woelfel, Kingsford, Theresa (Ulysses) Gingrass, Quinnesec, Angel (Christopher) Inglese, Felch, Mich. and Bobbi-Jo Leslie, Quinnesec; three brothers, Jim (Dolly) Leslie, Kingsford, Tom Leslie, Norway and Mark Leslie, Racine, Wis.; three sisters, Pauline Leslie, Wakefield, Mich., Rita Zietlow, Ohio and Yvonne Leslie, Pembine; a special addition to his family, Peter (Iliyana) Sirakov, Kingsford; three brothers-in-law, John (Jill) Gill, Quinnesec, Jeff (Patti) Gill, Iron Mountain and Bob Polkinghorn, Emerado, ND; thirteen Grandchildren, Miranda, Robert, Makyla, Chrislyn, Antonio, Catherine, Porter, Lyla, Evrett, Ayla, Kindi, Linten and Stefan; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Polkinghorn and his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Catherine Gill and his dog Odie.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited Friday, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
