William E. Schintgen
William E. Schintgen, 94, of Niagara, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home, Niagara.
He was born January 12, 1921, in Niagara, son of the late Henry and Ann (VanPembrook) Schintgen.
Bill grew up in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School, Class of 1938. He married Esther Pancheri and she preceded him in death in 1962. Bill worked as an Equipment Operator for the Niagara Paper Mill for many years before retiring. He married Betty Martin and they owned and operated Shanks Bar in Niagara for many years. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2013.
He was an active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, Pembine, Wis., the Niagara American-Legion Cretton- Tutas Post No. 136 and past Commander of the Niagara VFW Post. Bill enjoyed bowling, walleye fishing, hunting in his younger years, the Green Bay Packers and spending time with his family and friends.
Bill is survived by one son, Bill (Janet) Schingten, Niagara; three daughters, Pat Rouse, Niagara, Ann (Jim) Bumford, New Franken, Wis. and Evans Schintgen, Rohnert Park, Calif.; one daughter-in-law, Betty Schintgen, Niagara; three step-sons, Robert (Pat) Magray, Oneida, Wis., Raymond Magray, Old Mill Creek, Ill. and William (Cindy) Magray, Green Bay, Wis.; one step-daughter, Betty (Terry) Moriarity, Niagara and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jim Schintgen; three brothers, Henry, Joe and Louie Schintgen; three sisters, Dorothy and Annabelle Schintgen and Marcella Cunningham; four sons-in-law, Douglas Payette, Ronald Michaud, Richard Rouse and Roger Stumpf; one step-son, Vernon Magray; one step-sister-in-law, Frances Koller and three step-brothers-in-law, Leonard, Raymond and Robert Martin.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Pembine. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery, Niagara. The Niagara Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136 will accord Military Honors at graveside.
The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel to honor Bill’s Legacy of Life.
