Obituary for
Geraldine A. "Gerri" Piper (Cavalieri)
Iron Mountain-Geraldine A. “Gerri” Piper, 85, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, surrounded by her family.
She was born April 17, 1931 in Iron Mountain, to the late Joseph and Ida (Backlund) Cavalieri. Gerri graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1949. She then went on to attend James Town Beauty School, receiving her beauticians license. Gerri worked for Golden Comb for 10 years and Park Ridge Beauty Salon for over 15 years.
She enjoyed crafting, especially water and oil painting, winning first prize at the county fair. Gerri was a member of the Spring Road Homemakers group in Neenah, Wisc.
She is survived by two daughters, Kelly (Robin) Tchokreff, Iron Mountain, Mich. and Paula (Geno) Alessandrini, Iron Mountain, Mich.; four sons, Randy (Kathy Johnson) Piper, Iron Mountain, Mich., Rodney (Kris) Piper, Sagola, Mich., Jeff (Debbie) Piper, New London, Wisc. and Kevin (Sherri) Piper, Iron Mountain, Mich.; one brother, Joseph (Elaine) Cavalieri of Trego, Wisc.; one sister-in-law, Judy Cavalieri of Kingsford, Mich.; 17 grandchildren, Scott, Benjamin, Robert, Jeanine, Greg, Jamie, Aaron, Carly, Tabitha, Mindy, Paul, Krissy, Montana, Kennedy, Sarah, Geno Jr. and Anthony; 14 great-grandchildren; and by longtime friend of over 40 years, John Dowdle.
In addition to her parents, Gerri was preceded in death by one brother, James Cavalieri and two sisters, DeLores Piper and Joan Jordan.
A celebration of Gerri’s life will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Laborers Union Hall, 1800 N. Stephenson Avenue, Iron Mountain, Mich. 49801
