Obituary for
Bernadette L. Dzekute-Wojdyla
Iron Mountain-Bernadette L. Dzekute-Wojdyla, 91, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Mary Hill Manor, Niagara, Wis.
She was born in Chicago, Ill., on May 11, 1926, daughter of the late Peter and Gladys (Kendzierski) Dzekute. Bernadette grew up and attended school in Goodman, Wis. She worked as a supervisor in the loans department at Harris Bank in Barrington, Ill. Bernadette later worked at Kmart in Iron Mountain and was honored as the Annual Great Lakes Regional All-Star Winner in 1999. She was selected among employees of the 400 stores in the region. Bernadette was also a Eucharistic Minister at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Algonquin, Ill. She was united in marriage to Frank Wojdyla on March 23, 1946, in Chicago, Ill. Frank preceded her in death on November 28, 1991.
Bernadette enjoyed crocheting afghans, gardening and picking berries, fixing webbing on lawn chairs, and rummage sales.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Ann Wojdyla-Roos, Iron Mountain; two sons, David Francis (Rose Marie) Wojdyla, Fence, Wis. and Thomas Paul Wojdyla, Niagara, Wis.; two brothers, Larry (Gloria) Dzekute, Fence, Wis. and Bobby (MaryAnn) Dzekute, Oak Creek, Wis.; one sister, Dorothy Wilken, Remington, Ind.; grandchildren, Chris and Jason Roos, Andrew and Michael Wojdyla, Jenny (Jeremy)Fayas, Katie (Nate) Hebert, Melinda Nordell, Dianna (Cory) Kalczynski, Tom Paul Wojdyla Jr., Kourtney Elizabeth (Christopher) Raiche, and Aaron and James Wojdyla; 14 great-grandchildren, and her cat, Oliver.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frank, Bernadette was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Dzekute.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 30, 2017, from 10:00 am until 12:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Mich. Funeral services will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Raymond Valerio will officiate. Burial will be in Fence Cemetery, Fence, Wis.
